After Household Names disbanded in 2010, Chris Peters (vocals/bass) decided to demo a few songs ideas that he planned to use for a solo acoustic act. However, upon completing the demos, he found that many of these new songs had the potential to work in a full band setting. So he reached out to childhood friends and former bandmates CJ Barker (drums/vocals) and Eric Roberts (guitar/vocals) to round out the lineup.

For years, the three of them toyed with the idea of forming a power-trio together, especially given that many of their collective influences (The Police, Nirvana, Nada Surf) and their more current inspirations (The Secret Machines, Them Crooked Vultures, The Joy Formidable) also chose this band format.

The constraint of only having a guitar, a bass, and drums requires that every part, every harmony, every melody has a distinct place in the arrangement. The band views this limitation as a constructive challenge and relies on it to create their unique sound.

Though they are unapologetically earnest in their approach to songwriting and musical choices, the members of Digital Tiger rarely take themselves too seriously. Sure, three strong-willed guys that have known each other since childhood can often lead to at least a heated discussion or two (or two hundred). But they also constantly try to make each other laugh in-between studio takes or during downtime at a rehearsal.
